Walking in the Light (Part 4): Light Always Wins
The truth is that no matter how deep the darkness feels, God’s light is always victorious.
Part of the 5-Part Series: Walking in the Light—Winning the Daily Battle Against Darkness
We are in the final stretch of this journey about walking in the light and I hope that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve looked at what light and darkness represent, how daily choices shape our walk, and how God’s light brings clarity. This week we’ll look at the undeniable truth: light always wins.
It is not just a nice thought but a spiritual reality. Darkness is powerless the moment light appears, no matter how deep the darkness feels or how hopeless your situation seems. This gives us hope for every step we take.
The Victory of Light
John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” It actually says: Light does not fight with darkness. Light simply exists, and by its very presence, darkness must leave.
Think of when you enter a dark room and switch on the lights. The darkness inside doesn’t argue or resist — it disappears instantly. Spiritually, the same is true. When we welcome God’s presence into our lives, darkness retreats instantly.
Small Light, Big Power
One of the wonderful things about God’s light is that even the smallest spark is enough to push back the dark. You don’t need to have it all together. A single prayer, a single verse, or a single act of faith can have a big impact and make a difference.
I once attended a sermon where a reformed drug addict shared his testimony. He felt shame and failure, which suffocated him. But then he remembered a verse he had memorised while he was still at school. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1). That single verse lit up his heart, gradually relieving him of his burden so that he could overcome his addiction. You could say it was a spark that lit a fire in him, and today he can tell his story as a blessing to others.
When we understand that light always wins, we live a different life. We are quietly confident without fear. We will face challenges with the knowledge that God’s presence within us is greater than any darkness around us.
Darkness may try to settle over our lives, but it cannot overcome the light of Christ. No matter what you’re facing today, remember: His light is stronger. His victory is sure.
"Lord, thank You that Your light is stronger than any darkness. Help me to live confidently in the victory You have given me, knowing that Your presence overcomes every shadow."
Next Week:
In Part 5, we finish our series by looking at how we are called to not just walk in the light but to be the light. I’ll share how you and I can carry God’s light into our homes, workplaces, and communities and become beacons of hope in a dark world.
So goed Oom. Dankie!
