In a previous article, I wrote about finding peace amid the chaos of our busy lives. Our schedules are often so packed with worldly concerns that we struggle to find time for God. This isn’t always intentional, but we find ourselves so preoccupied that even 10 or 15 minutes for Him seems impossible. But what does this mean for our spiritual journey?
The Widow's Offering
In Mark 12:41–44, we read about the widow who gave her last two copper coins to the temple treasury. Despite her poverty, she trusted God to provide for her needs. This act of faith is equivalent to how we use our time. Do we trust God enough to prioritise Him over our own busy agendas?
Trusting God with Your Time
Here's what it means to truly trust God with your time:
Trust that God is in control: Just as the widow trusted God with her last coins, we must have faith that He is in control and will meet our needs. Giving our time to God shows our trust in Him.
Putting God first: Giving our time to God means placing Him first over our own desires and plans. This requires a conscious effort to obey His commands and seek His guidance.
Surrendering control: When we give our time to God, we surrender control of our lives to Him. This can be challenging, but it leads to greater peace and fulfilment as we trust in His provision.
Patience with God's timing: God's timing often differs from ours. By dedicating time to Him, we learn to wait patiently for His guidance and provision, even when it means enduring periods of uncertainty.
Peace through surrender
Even when we surrender our time to God, the chaos of life doesn’t magically disappear. However, by trusting Him, we gain His guidance in every situation. This surrender doesn’t mean passive waiting but active faith, trusting that God will navigate us through difficult times. It is then that you will experience Psalm 23 in your life: “He makes me lay down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me on the path of righteousness.” Trust God in such a way that He leads you to peace amidst your chaos.
