How to Find the Key to a Life Full of Wonder
The way you embrace awe can change the manner in which you see things
Where I live, we are fast approaching winter, which means colder mornings and trees losing their leaves. While out for a jog in the cool air one morning, I couldn't help but notice the trees whose leaves were turning flaming shades of orange and red. In that moment, I was struck by the sheer beauty of nature and felt an overwhelming sense of awe and wonder, as well as a quiet reverence for the Creator behind such splendour.
When things like this happen, we naturally turn to worshipping God. However, real worship isn't just a brief moment of awe or a routine during a church service on Sundays. It's a way of life that runs through every breath we take. A lot of the time, we think of worship as singing hymns or saying prayers, but worship is so much more than that. When we worship, we recognise and celebrate how great God is, how much He loves us, and how faithful He is.
In the Bible, we find countless examples of individuals who worshipped God not just through songs but through their actions, their thoughts, and their words. The prophet Isaiah, for instance, praised God for His steadfast character and the wondrous deeds He had performed. His words were not mere platitudes but heartfelt expressions of awe and gratitude.
True worship is a state of mind, a conscious choice to live in reverence and respect for the Almighty.
It's acknowledging His majesty in the intricate design of a butterfly's wings or the soft touch of a summer breeze. It's showing gratitude for His provisions, whether it's the roof over our heads or the loving arms of family and friends.
Cultivating a lifestyle of worship doesn't require big actions or complicated rituals. It’s as easy as pausing and letting ourselves be fully engaged in the present moment. It's about slowing down, letting our hearts and minds be open, and being ready for the many ways God shows Himself to us every single day.
I must live in the manifest presence of God. The very existence of God within us is what sets us apart from other people. The more I understand how great God is, the more my reverence and awe of Him grow. The glory of God is the weight of His majesty and honour. It is the weight of His whole being. We can never lose sight of how great and majestic He is.
So, take a deep breath, and let your soul be filled with wonder. Think about and reflect on all the good things in your life and the miracles, big and small, that happen every day. Allow yourself to be in awe of the One who orchestrates it all and makes it happen, and let your worship flow freely, not just in words but in the very way you live your life.
